Another Geoffrey Bawa design — the sweeping bronze staircase in the lobby, cast with warriors clashing on the treads, is worth a visit even if you don't stay. Perched on a rocky headland just outside Galle Fort, the hotel is well placed for exploring the fort by tuk-tuk in the cool of the evening.
